In the nearly 20 years I’ve lived on the Hill, the boundaries of what is widely considered “Greater Capitol Hill” have really expanded. It used to really not go much further east than Lincoln Park or much north of H St. Now, with strategic development in places like NoMa and around the Union Market, Capitol Hill home buyers are really spreading out. I’ve been spending a lot of time taking buyers to see properties in areas like Eckington and Trinidad, where you can still get a lot of bang for your buck. Moving forward, I’ll be including these areas in the weekly open house roundup and in the link of Capitol Hill open houses.
39 V St, NE , open Sunday from 1-4, is a great example of the type of house you can find now in Eckington. This 1910 end unit townhouse has 3 bedrooms, 3.5 baths and a family room with wet bar. It’s completely renovated with an open floor plan, exposed brick wall, bamboo flooring, gas fireplace and gourmet kitchen. Listed at $599k, it’s significantly less pricey than what it would be if it were located on the south side of Florida Ave.
The rest of the Capitol Hill – and vicinity – open houses are posted here!
